Advocacy work

  • We conduct advocacy work to mainstream mother and child health issues at national policy level.
  • Actively participated in the process of formulating National Population Policy, AIDS Strategy and AIDS Policy etc.
  • NUS was the founder member of CCM Bangladesh and at present technical sub-committee member of HIV/AIDS and Malaria GFATM, Ministry of Health
  • Action Research conducted titled "Advocacy work to mainstream gender issue in Health Sector, especially in the AIDS sector."

  • Survey on violence against women among urban community supported by UNICEF in 2006.
  • Research on non-commercial sex abuse among urban community supported by MJ, CARE, DFID in 2005.
  • Survey on non-commercial sex abuse an domestic violence among urban community supported by SARIQ, AED, USAID in 2005
  • Research on non-commercial sex abuse among urban and rural community supported by BTS in 1995.
  • Research on “Psychological status of the brothel children of Kandupatti under Dhaka City" with the support of Save the Children UK in 1997.
  • Rapid Assessment conducted on sexual behavour of Rickshaw-pullers, Garage Managers supported by UNDP/NASP in 2000.
  • Qualitative study on vulnerable behavior of the slum community people to HIV/AIDS in 1996
  • Case studies on trafficked and kidnapped persons of border areas.
  • Case studies on child commercial sex workers and trafficked girls

BCC Materials

NUS has produced 13 types of posters, two types of key rings, 11 types T-shirts, audio cassettes, caps, flyers, masks, placards, festoons, billboards, stickers, drama scripts and lyrics. Beside those, NUS developed training modules and handouts on AIDS prevention, drug abuse prevention, reproductive health, income generation, sales girls development, trafficking and sexual abuse prevention, peer education and advocacy for safe motherhoods.
